My Star
So full of happiness and hope am I
Down from my umber, sparkling eyes it streams,
The appled drumlins of my cheeks capsize
In full-fledged bliss so vast I can but weep:
Struck in a moment by weight of past toils,
By their futility, and all I now possess,
And bygones matter not 'gainst all these joys
At last atoned for with a god's largesse.
If I am moved, it is as planets move,
And you my star, the center of my dreams,
Caught in orbit that never will conclude
And before us the entire cosmos gleams.
Broad'ning my heart with time, with simple care:
My guiding star, most bright, most clear, most fair.
